Guyana Rainforest

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The BBC Knowledge channel has recently shown three Expedition series involving a core crew of rugged naturalist Steve Backshall, insect lover Dr George McGavin, wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan and wildlife film maker Justine Evans. Conservationists all, they are 'disciples' of the greatest living Englishman, Sir David Attenborough who, incidentally, has made TV series about Indonesia.
All four, plus other specialists and technicians in the expeditions, are conservationists and it is probable that it was their expedition to Guyana which gave the impetus for the launch of an $8.5m Conservation Trust Fund, the first of its kind for the country. This will provide long-term financing for the management of Guyana's intact protected areas system – tropical rainforests largely untouched by humans.
